As the harmattan season begins to set in, in parts of the country, dealers in second-hand clothes in Kafanchan, Kaduna, have begun to record high sales.A News Agency of Nigeria survey in the town revealed that parents have been trooping to second-hand clothes shops in the town to buy warm clothing for their wards.The survey also revealed that commercial motorcycle operators were among the customers.Sani Idris, who sells second-hand materials at the Kafanchan Old Market, said that the rush for the clothing materials began about one week ago when it became obvious that the cold season had set in.Mr. Idris said that the harmattan period usually provided dealers in second-hand clothes the opportunity to make brisk business and enjoy some level of profit.According to him, many parents have been coming here to buy clothes that will keep their children warm this period.He said that parents preferred the second-hand clothes, because of their durability and relatively low prices, adding that since the rush began, he had been making between N7,000 and N9,000 profit daily.According to him,fashion stewardess there is high demand for sweaters, jackets, hand gloves and stockings.
