Unusual necklines, lace and chiffon were among the hot styles and
fabrics for bridal dresses at J&B Bridal's 2014 Bridal Show on
Sunday. The line of brides- and grooms-to-be stretched far outside the

owner of J&B Bridals in Chambersburg, said the event was bigger
than last year. "We had around 700 people last year and we definitely
have more this year," he said. Resh said the event has grown
substantially in the last several years and, this year, had expanded to
several more rooms. "It is so exciting," Resh said. "We spend about six
months preparing for this."
The event features, among other
things, dresses from designer Madeline Gardener that hit the runway
during a show, and 41 different vendors with ideas for the perfect
wedding. "It's as vital to us as it is to the vendors and to the brides
themselves," Resh said. Emily Swartz, Chambersburg, said that she and
her future husband have set the date of their wedding for Dec. 13 of
this year, to correspond with 12/13/14. She said she is also receiving
help from her mother and three sisters, whom are bridesmaids. "I have a
lot of help," Swartz said. Taylor McConnaughey, Chambersburg, and Alex
Buterbaugh, Mercersburg, decided to tie the knot after being together
for seven years. "We dated while in high school," Buterbaugh said. The
two have set a date for July 25 of next year and are just getting
started in planning the wedding. "We are thinking of having the ceremony
and reception at Wilson College because it's convenient and close to
home," McConnaughey said.
While Buterbaugh came to help, she
said that she is definitely the one making the big plans. "He's letting
me pick," she said. "He said, 'As long as you're happy, I'm happy.'" And

"Don't take anyone's advice," she said. "Do you own thing. Everyone
talks to you and tells you what you should do. Do what you want to do."
